Denver County Real Estate

Welcome to Denver! Denver, Colorado, fondly nicknamed the "Mile High City" because of its elevation of 5,280 feet, offers the sophistication of a large city, but maintains a sense of charm often found in a smaller city. Denver consistently tops of the list of the country's most popular places to live and it is easy to see why. It offers its residents a top-notch quality of life, beautiful weather in Denver of over 300 days of sunshine per year, and a scenic backdrop of the marvelous Rocky Mountains.
History of Denver
Denver's history dates back to the mid-19th century when a prospector party founded the city in 1858, after gold was discovered at the junction of the Cherry Creek and the South Platte Rivers. The town's founders named the dusty province after James W. Denver, the Governor of the Kansas territory at the time. Denver was incorporated on November 7, 1861, and by the end of the 19th century, it was the second most populous city in the West.
The City of Denver
Denver is the hub of the Rocky Mountain West today, and it benefits from its location nearly in the middle of the country. According to the United States Census Bureau, the population of the City of Denver was 598,707 in 2008, making it the 24th largest U.S. city based on population. The 10-county Denver-Aurora Metro Area had a population of 2,506,626 in 2008, making it the 21st largest populous U.S. metropolitan urban area.
Downtown Denver
Downtown Denver, the tenth largest downtown in the United States, is a charming area with outdoor restaurants, shops and mountain views at every turn. LoDo, or Lower Downtown, has evolved over the past few decades from a run-down area to one of the most vibrant downtown areas in the country, thanks in part to Coors Field which was erected in the 1990s.
Denver offers a plethora of recreational opportunities and cultural outlets, along with all four major league sports. The city has three sports stadiums and numerous highly acclaimed museums and cultural venues. Denver is also only about a two-hour drive from the world-class ski areas of the Rocky Mountains.
Denver is home to a well-regarded school system, Denver Public Schools, along with many esteemed private schools. It also has numerous highly-acclaimed higher education institutions, including the University of Colorado and the University of Denver.
